STEEL PLANT TECHNOLOGY 

 

Modern technology has revolutionised steel product. IGH recognised these trends at an early stage and applied them to design and fabrication practice.

 

In determining the basic configuration of converter required detail studies must be made effective diameter and effective height, optimum volume, depth and surface area. Converter can be furnished with fixed or detachable bottom.

 

The welded converter shell is supported on trunnion ring bearings and provided with electric drives for tilting it into the various positions required for charging of hot metal, scrap, fluxes, alloys, oxygen top blowing, deslagging, sampling and testing.

 

To ensure satisfactory operation, the vessel must be capable of being tilted through 360 ° in either direction.

Nowadays Computer-assisted simulation programs provide a secured data base for reliable design, specifications and therefore guarantee a loading on the each part. The development of these new meltdown and material techniques has stimulated a requirement for quality steel especially stainless steel, which can withstand higher and higher loading and sophisticated applications. These steel require metallurgical post treatment which cannot be undertaken in a conventional arc furnace route. For this reason IGH have committed itself for several years before to install secondary refining unit to compete in the international market.

 

The result of the most up-to-date steel technology is the production of high-tensile and high-alloy steels with levels of purity approaching nearly 100 % and with extremely low sulphur, low tramp elements, gas concentration and reduced inclusion which is known as clean steel.

As a consequence of the fact that our specialists have extensive special knowledge available to them in stainless steel metallurgy, foundry technology, engineering and welding technology, we are always in a position to find new, more advantageous solution for our customer throughout the world.
